Roughly 24 years ago, I was of the opinion that the allopathic method of treating diseases was the only better way of addressing health problems. This opinion has however changed so much over the years as I begun to educate people from getting sick. I have always been interested in preventive health which emphasizes on the application of a better diet and lifestyle.
In June of 1997, I was licensed to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner and with this licensure, I was of the opinion that I could help a lot of people get well since I had obtained the license also to prescribe medications. At that time too, I did not have enough information about the impact of a proper diet and chronic disease development. In spite of my health educational programs on preventive health, I was still doing many things wrong, especially with my diet. I did not get the wake up call until I got sick myself towards the end of 1999 when I had severe bodily pains, high blood cholesterol and fungal growth between my toes.
During this period, I had prescribed a lot of medications to people of all walks of life and still could not get them cured. I was worried about the idea that people had to take medications for their entire life for preventable diseases like the ones that I suffered knowing very well that most of these medications had very serious side effects. Anyway, with the above notion in mind and together with my professional knowledge and experience in allopathy, I decided to look for alternative methods of alleviating my health problems. So in the early months of 2000, very down-hearted in my office in the hospital where I still practice, I decided to go to a health food store to look for a book which used a better diet and lifestyle to address chronic health problems such as I had. As a seventh day Adventist church member, I was also looking for an author who made use of the preventive health principles taught by the Seventh Day Adventist church. At this time that I was sick, I was not following the natural and biblical health principles, that was taught by the church!
I actually found the answer at the book store initially from two books written by the same author titled “Why Christians get Sick” and “God’s way to Ultimate health”. These two books were really an eye opener and the initial sources for the complete eradication of my health problems. These two books really established the scientific facts to support the fact that Christians and people in general get sick by deviating from the original diet given to man at creation. The Genesis 1:29-31 of a “Whole Foods, Plant Based Diet” was the key to the prevention of many of the chronic killer diseases including cancer and heart diseases.
To cut along story sort, after a month of changing my diet and lifestyle from a non vegetarian to a vegan lifestyle, the severe pain that I suffered literally disappeared.
By following the natural laws of health as stated in the Bible and in these two books,
I felt better and my cholesterol came down to below 150 when I checked my blood chemistry six months along this lifestyle change. In all these endeavors, I did not have to use a single pill!
After this eye opener, I took a course to become an international nutritional consultant and have also read extensively to broaden my knowledge base on the relationship between a better diet and lifestyle change and chronic disease development. As at now my resolution is to embark on preventive health using natural or harmless approaches in preventing the endemic chronic killer diseases. That is the reason why I opted to get a degree to become a naturopath because I am no longer interested in the way allopathic practitioners manage chronic but preventable killer diseases.
My whole lifestyle has changed for the better and I have helped many willing people globally to adopt a better diet and lifestyle to prevent the debilitating effects of the chronic diseases of modern times. This is because after all, whatever the healthcare and the public in general are doing is not helping to eradicate the preventable chronic killer diseases of modern society.
I have resolved to prevent diseases in people using the natural and non invasive and cost effective approaches to address illness to confirm what Thomas Edison once said “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but would engage the patient in the proper use of diet, exercise and fresh air”. This is the way I enjoy practicing my profession. I hope to develop a center for natural wellness somewhere in Africa to help poor and suffering people take care of their sickness.
Sincerely in health
